Nancy Swanson

Ten years ago when I decided that I wanted to paint, I felt like I’d finally discovered what I wanted to be when I grew up!

I am completely content when I’m painting  and find that the one I’m working on leads to ideas for others faster than I can paint them. Consequently, I work on several paintings at the same time. It’s exciting to see a painting come together in the way I have envisioned it.  Sometimes it comes together totally different than my plan – and sometimes it just doesn’t work at all and ends up as collage scraps.  Surprises are what keep things interesting.

I work in watercolor, acrylic, oil, and I love the unpredictable element of Monotypes.  I have attended many workshops and become energized by each new thing I learn whether it’s a major new technique or a small tip.  Painting should be – and  is for me – a constantly changing and evolving process.
