Julie Morriss is a native of Salt Lake and is a practicing patent attorney in her own intellectual property law firm of six attorneys. She began painting upon graduation from law school, at a time when her schedule was less hectic.
She has taken numerous art classes from the University of Utah and has attended several workshops in various art styles and techniques. She works in watercolor, gouache, acrylic and pastel, and hopes that someday she may grasp the illusive call of oil. Still waiting.
Julie finds that her career as a patent attorney has enhanced her art, and vice versa. Art is invention and invention is art. Both involve creativity and madness; both require discipline and insight. And both law and art are jealous mistresses.
Julie has been in a number of shows, including a group showing at the Anderson-Hill Library, the Rio Grande Restaurant and the annual Mary Mark & Associates tribute to art and law.
