Sue Martin

My paintings abstract reality in ways that invite the viewer to see my unique vision of the world around me. Whether still life, landscape or figurative subjects, I layer paint, expressive line, stamps, and collage to suggest a subject without realistically describing it. 

 After a career in corporate communications in Washington, DC, I moved to Utah with my husband and kids in 1995. When my two sons were teens, I finally had time to return to an old love – painting. I took classes in watercolor, experimental water media, and acrylics with local artists and college classes. In 2009, I decided to get serious about developing my art skills and practices and began pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at the University of Utah. I finally graduated in December 2012. 

My work has been juried into statewide shows sponsored by the Utah Watercolor Society, Utah Valley State College, and Eccles Art Center. My paintings have won many awards and are in private collections throughout the U.S. and in Murray City’s permanent collection.
