Janet Bondi

"My first artistic influences came from my family. Both of my parents were artistic -- in fact, they had met in an art class at college. My older sister entertained me and my younger sister with arts and crafts projects. The lessons and encouragement she and my parents gave me planted the seeds for my love of art. My early school years in Paris surrounded by the beauty of the cradle of Western art also provided me with rich sensory experiences that still influence me today.

I studied drawing, design, painting, printmaking, sculpture, aesthetics, and art history at Virginia Commonwealth University and received a BA in Art from the University of California in Santa Cruz. During the time my husband and I raised our two children, I worked in the printing, advertising, design, marketing, and publishing fields which drew upon my artistic skills and added many new ones as well.

Most recently, I helped to open Art at the Main, a gallery located within Salt Lake City’s Main Library. Here I have the pleasure of sharing my work with people from all walks of life.

I am an artist because I enjoy the processes of discovery and invention. I love exploring the world around me and the vast realm of my own imagination. Using both simple tools as well as the tools of modern technology, I strive to be authentic and to reach new understandings with each new work."
